Description

Most of my other images of Sherlopillar are going to be Digital, so I figured I should do one traditional.

His coat was supposed to be grayer than that, but it didn't work out. Sorry.

If you have any questions, check out: [BELOW] , then you can ask me. : ) Most of the info is there.

Also, I drew this because I enjoyed the design of Sherlopillar in "Eat Me" so much I had to draw him more properly so people could actually see what I had drawn.

Q and A

So… what are you combining here?
BBC’s Sherlock ( © Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss) and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland ( © Lewis Carrol). I hate to admit it, because I LOVE Sherlock Holmes stuff, but I’m so sick and tired of twisted versions of Alice in Wonderland. EVERYONE does it!

Then why are you….?
Because I had an idea, and I rolled with it. Shut up.

How/when/why did you come up with this?
After watching Sherlock in one sitting I really, really fell in love with it. It was brillaint! And I loved the characterization of Sherlock Holmes. The next day, I had an idea to draw Sherlock as the Caterpillar from Alice in Wonderland, smoking a hookah, and then afterwards the idea of having a really big pill bottle with the label “Eat Me” made my spine tingle with awesome, and I had to draw it. ((Note: The final image turned out really different from what I originally imagined, which is sad, but overall I’m satisfied with it.))

Why is Sherlock the Caterpillar?! I never liked him!
Me neither, but of all the characters, Sherlock fits the Caterpillar best—they both seem pretty intelligent and have an aloof manner. But the most important part was definitely dem drugs.

But the Caterpillar is smoking marijuana, and Sherlock is a cocaine addict!
Yes, this is true, but for the sake of parodies/spoofs/remakes, DRUGS IS DRUGS. According to Sherlock, Sherlock’s drug of choice is now cigarettes, although they do hint at him using cocaine (at least at some point). Originally in the picture I was going to have him bearing his nicotine patches (which I think is such a neat idea, LOL!), but I decided in the end not to.

What’s up with the drugs?! Are you a supporter of drugs?!
Not really—I would never try any, and I think it’s tragic when someone uses them to escape a hard life and absolutely contemptible when someone tries them “just ‘cause”. However, I have recently become fascinated with high-thinking, powerful characters who are also drug addicts—just that duality of power and dignity and that weakness of being addicted to a drug. You can see the beginning of my interest in my character L’ark, who was my first ever drug addict ever. EVER. And he barely counts as a “high-thinking” person.

Okay, this terrible name—“Sherlopillar”. That’s not the real name, is it?!
Yes and no—yes, it really is the name of the comic. No, it will never, EVER be mentioned IN the comic. “Sherlopillar” started out as a nickname for the Sherlock-Caterpillar hybrid/anthro that I drew for the recently titled “Eat Me” image, and it was so awful and horrendous that I immediately loved it. As such, when I needed to choose a name for the comic, I decided to use “Sherlopillar”—like Sherlock, it takes its name “directly” from the main character, and this also allows a reference to the Alice in Wonderland aspect that I immensely hate. Also, Sherlopillar will never be more than the title of this comic and a fanon nick-name.

Why have an Alice in Wonderland theme at all, then?
Because that’s the only thing keeping this as “my project” instead of a “comic-ization of the episodes”. I mean… have you READ the plot summaries? It’s just the episodes but with slightly different lines and stupid motifs!

Then why don’t you make your own?
I’d love to, but only if I get far enough—until I get comfortable enough with the characters of Wonderlondon and the world’s mechanics, I think I’m going to stick to doing renditions of episodes. However, Atakiri + Long Term Projects = HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA, so we’ll see how that goes!

But for some reason I actually LIKE this and want to keep reading! What can I do to make you keep working on it?!
COMMENT. Jesus Christ, TELL me you like it! I do stuff 90% for myself, but I’m a terrible self-motivator, and without people’s support and constant mentioning I KNOW I’ll be hard-pressed to keep this going. My passion is like a spark—bright and hot and brilliant, and gone if I blink my eye.

Why are you even doing this?
The honest answer, or the one that sounds good? The one that sounds good is that it’s practice for me to set-up pages, work on consistency, and also patience. The honest answer is that I just want an excuse to draw more Sherlopillar—it’s fun as hell!!!!

Why does he look so creepy?! I mean…. BLUCK!
When I drew him as the Caterpillar, I already had the basics in my head—human head, human torso, segmented body. In my first thumbnail I drew him with Caterpie/Kirby foot-pads, and he just looked cute and ridiculous. When I drew him seriously, I knew I couldn’t take that route, so I tried spider legs—and it was creepy as hell and I knew I liked it. His ungodly long and thin arms are just…. more creepiness, that I really like. IID I’m a girl of weird tastes, sorry. I like ‘em gangly and pale!

Why did you write me as such a bastard?! D<
Because it’s easier to respond to you this way, and more fun. 8D

Why are you working on this and not my Incentive Chibi?
B-because…… YEAH WELL SHUT UP!!!! DDDDDD<
